HCF Criteria:

- Show potential for promoting the legacy of the 100th Infantry Battalion of World War II (additional essay).

A&B Ohana Scholarship Fund
HCF Criteria:
- Be a resident of the state of Hawaii
- Be in good academic standing or by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be a full-time student carrying not less than the equivalent of 12 credits each semester
- Attend a college or university in the United States holding a 501(c)3 status
- For dependent children of full-time employees of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. Employees must have completed at least one year of full time continuous service as of the application deadline.
- Students completing community college or vocational school and transferring to a 4-year college are eligible.
- Students eligible for renewable scholarship grants for four consecutive years as long as the parent/guardian remains employed at Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. and the student maintains a GPA of 2.7.
- A student who loses eligibility may reapply as a new applicant (and be considered with all other applicants), but will be limited to the aggregate four-year cap.

AES Hawaii Scholarship Fund - Oahu
The AES Hawaii Scholarship Fund - Oahu was created in 2022. The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship grants in furtherance of post-secondary education.

Aiea General Hospital Association Scholarship
Aiea General Hospital closed its doors in 1983. With the hospital's remaining assets, its Board of Directors established a trust in 1985 as an expression of gratitude to area residents for their many years of support.

Arthur Jackman Scholarship
This fund was set up by the granddaughter of Arthur Jackman, a man who came to this country in the early 1900s and built his business working from the bottom up in the steel industry. The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to students seeking training specifically to gain employment.

Bank of Hawaii Foundation Scholarship Fund
Bank of Hawaii believes that young people deserve the opportunity to succeed. The Bank of Hawaii Foundation Scholarship Fund offers financial assistance to college-bound children and grandchildren of Bank of Hawaii employees. Bank of Hawaii views this Scholarship Fund as a necessary investment in the future—for scholarship recipients, the local community and the country.

Ben and Vicky Cayetano Scholarship Fund
The Cayetano Foundation provides opportunities in higher education to exceptional Hawai'i students - especially those who have demonstrated perseverance and determination in the face of difficult financial and social obstacles. Governor Benjamin Cayetano's personal experiences and awareness of the hardships of others were part of the impetus for creating this scholarship.

Castle & Cooke Properties created this fund when they built the Mililani Technology Park as a way of recognizing outstanding students from Central O'ahu and to encourage studies in high technology fields.

Central Pacific Bank Foundation Scholarship Fund
HCF Criteria:
- Be a Hawaii resident
- Minimum cumulative gpa of 2.0
- Attend an accredited, two or four year, not-for-profit institution within the US (including US territories)
- Be a full-time or part-time students (as determined by your school’s financial aid office)
- Undergraduate degree seeking student
- Minimum 2.7 GPA
- Be an active status employee, a dependent child of an active status employee or a grandchild of an active status employee of Central Pacific Bank and/or it’s subsidiary or affiliated company with a minimum of one year of service as of the application date and at the time of the award notification. (Dependent child refers to biological, step, foster, legal ward or adopted child under the age of 26.) The employee must continue to be an active status employee at the time of the award letter.

This fund memorializes E.E. Black, chairman and president of The Gas Company, now Par Hawaii Refining. He is credited with revitalizing the company which was in danger of failing when he took charge. To recognize Mr. Black's numerous contributions, this fund was established in his honor. The scholarships go to dependents of employees at Par Hawaii Refining.

Edward Payson and Bernice Piilani Irwin Scholarship
This scholarship is named in honor of Bernice Pi'ilani Irwin who was a friend of Queen Lili'u'okalani. Bernice was the author of a collection of Hawaiian tales called In Menehune Land. She also wrote a popular column for the Honolulu Advertiser and later for the Honolulu Times, which was edited by her husband Edwin Irwin. Her column was entitled Kahuna Nui, the Old Sage of Kaka'ako, and was a discourse on politics and civic affairs, written in pidgin. The Irwins set up this trust fund to students who, like Bernice, wish to have careers in journalism.

Herbert C. Shipman headed the W.H. Shipman Ltd. Company from 1943 until 1976. Mr. Shipman was also a conservationist, working to save the nene from extinction. He was amongst the first to raise orchids on Hawai'i Island and has a park named after him in Keaau. This scholarship fund was established by the H.C. Shipman Foundation in his memory for the purpose of supporting students from Keaau public high schools.

HEI Scholarship Program
HEI, HECO / HELCO / MECO and ASB (the HEI Companies) have established a scholarship program through the Hawaiian Electric Industries Charitable Foundation to assist eligible dependents of HEI Company employees who plan to continue education in college. Scholarships are awarded to incoming first-year college students for a single year if study and may be renewed for up to three additional years, or until a bachelor's degree is earned, whichever occurs first, for full-time study at an accredited four-year institution of the student's choice in the United States. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit, demonstrated leadership, participation in community service and extracurricular activities, and a personal statement of education and career goals and aspirations. Hilton Grand Vacations Scholarship for the Asia Pacific Junior Cup Fund
The Hilton Grand Vacations Scholarship for the Asia Pacific Junior Cup Fund was established by Hilton Grand Vacations to benefit Hawaii’s high school seniors participating in Hawaii Junior Golf or a high school golf team. Hilton Grand Vacations is the title sponsor of the Asia Pacific Junior Cup Golf Tournament which is a world-class tournament which recognizes and rewards the golf ability of young men and women from Hawaii and the Asia Pacific region.

Ian Doane Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund
Ian Doane Smith was raised on Maui, was a star HYSO player and a four year all star soccer player at Maui High School. He was also an accomplished Maui big wave surfer and a dedicated youth soccer coach. Ian loved Maui and its young people and following his death in 2004, his family proudly established this memorial scholarship fund to honor his memory and excellence in the two sports Ian loved – surfing and soccer.

Jean Estes Epstein Charitable Foundation Scholarship
Jean Estes Epstein established the Jean Estes Epstein Foundation upon her death in 2007. Jean had a great interest in education, especially public education in Hawaii. She felt it was very important to support public school students in their efforts to obtain college educations. Jean believed that a student’s educational experience would be enriched if the student attended school on the Mainland and was exposed to a diverse student population and new experiences. Jean hoped that the students who attended school on the Mainland would return to Hawaii in order to improve the lives of others in Hawaii.

Jean Fitzgerald Scholarship
The scholarship is a memorial to Jean Fitzgerald who was a very active participant in the Hawai'i Pacific Tennis Association. Jean felt it was important for young tennis players to pursue higher education in order to augment their tennis skills and be successful in other arenas besides the tennis court.

Jhung Family Foundation Scholarship
The Jhung Family Foundation Scholarship was started by Grafton Jhung in 1992 to honor Caroline Rhym Ing, the mother of Bryson, Grafton and Finis Jhung who graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1950, 1953, and 1955 respectively. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist needy and deserving graduates of Roosevelt High School in their pursuit of a college education. The scholarship is awarded for one year and is renewable for up to three additional years assuming continued financial need of the recipient and satisfactory academic progress in a degree-granting program.

Kahala Nui Residents Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 2006 by the Kahala Nui Residents Association to benefit employees or dependents of employees of Kahala Senior Living Community, Inc.
Donor Criteria:
- Be a current employee or employee dependent of Kahala Senior Living Community, Inc. with at least six (6) months of active employment prior to the application deadline. (Dependent is defined as a biological, step, foster, legal ward or adopted child under the age of 26)
- Be a resident of the state of Hawai'i
- Demonstrate financial need
- Attend an accredited two or four-year, not-for-profit institution within the US
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for associate degree seeking students; 2.7 for bachelor or graduate degree seeking students
- Preference for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year if such recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements and is in good academic standing.
- Applicants intending to study in fields of interest that support senior care, including nursing, medicine, geriatrics, social work, nutrition, culinary arts and hospitality.
Kahiau Scholarship Fund
This fund was created in 2007 to provide scholarships.
HCF Criteria:- Resident of the State of Hawaii
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be in good academic standing or by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Preference for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year if such recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements and is in good academic standing.
- Attend an accredited four year, not for profit institution in Hawaii or in the continental U.S.
- In a separate essay, describe how your community activities exemplify the meaning of kahiau (translated as giving generously from the heart with no expectation of return). Maximum 250 words.
Ka'iulani Home For Girls Trust Scholarship
The Ka'iulani Home for Girls originally provided housing for young women of Hawaiian ancestry. Kamehameha Schools used the building from 1950 to 1962 to board female students attending the schools. When the home became so old it could not be repaired, it was demolished and the property sold. The Ka'iulani Home for Girls Trust was established in 1963 and it continues the original mission of supporting Hawaiian females.
Donor Criteria:
- Supports students of Hawaiian ancestry. Applicants must submit a copy of their Kamehameha Schools Ho'oulu Hawaiian Data Center Ancestry Verification Letter
- Be a female
- Be a college freshman or sophomore
- Minimum GPA 3.3
- Be a resident of the State of Hawai'i
- Demonstrate financial need
- Attend an accredited, two or four year, not-for-profit college or university within the state of Hawaii
- Demonstrates good moral character
- Be a full-time student
- Preference for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year if such recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements and is in good academic standing.
Kalihi Education Coalition Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 2005 by the Kalihi Education Coalition to benefit graduating high school seniors from Damien School, Farrington High School, Kamehameha - Kapalama School or current college students attending Honolulu Community College.
HCF Criteria:- Preference for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year if such recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements and is in good academic standing.
- Be a resident of the State of Hawaii
- Demonstrate financial need
- Demonstrate one of the following criteria:
- Be a graduating high school senior attending a school in the Kalihi-Palama district (i.e. Farrington HS, Damien School or Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama)
- Be a college student attending Honolulu Community College

- Permanently or temporarily separated from birth parent(s) due to being placed under the State of Hawaii foster care, including those who aged out of the State of Hawaii foster care system.
- Be a resident on the island of Kaua’i
- Major in healthcare, education or social work
- Intent to have a career in Hawai’i

Kawailoa Wind Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by Kawailoa Wind, LLC, to support graduating high school seniors at Waialua High School with a preference for those majoring in math, science, or other renewable energy fields. This scholarship is intended to be a two year committed renewal.
Donor Criteria:
- Be a resident of the State of Hawai’i
- Demonstrate financial need
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7
- Be a graduating senior at Waialua High School
- Enroll as a full-time student
- Attend a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university in the U.S.

Kawasaki-McGaha Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 1995 by donor Dayle O. and Kuniko K. McGaha to provide scholarships to students attending Hawaii Pacific University studying in Computer Science or International Studies.
HCF Criteria:
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be in good academic standing by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
- Preference for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year if such recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements and is in good academic standing.

- Attend as a full time student (as determined by your school’s financial aid office)
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Be an athlete that participated in a varsity sport while in high school (preference given to students participating in more than one varsity sport).
- Attend an accredited, four year, not-for-profit institution within the continental U.S. that is a NAIA, Division II, or Division III school
- Leadership experience and qualities as demonstrated by serving as the captain of a varsity sports team, a student government leader or an officer of an extracurricular program.
- Participated in community service.
- Provide an additional essay describing sports involvement, leadership experience and qualities, and community service.
- One letter of recommendation is required from either the Athletic Director of the student's high school or the student's high school or post-secondary counselor. This letter of recommendation should address the student's: Varsity sports participation and school/media athletic awards, and leadership roles and qualities, including leadership roles in varsity sports, student government, and extracurricular clubs, etc., and school achievements as recognized by the school and media, moral character, and community service.

- Senior athlete at Waiakea High School who participated in BIIF (Big Island Interscholastic Federation) sport(s). If there are no applicants who meet this criteria, then the applicant may be a senior athlete from any other public high school except for charter schools, that is part of the BIIF
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship throughout his/her BIIF participation
- Provide two letters of recommendation; one letter of recommendation from the Athletic Director or coach and one from a high school teacher or counselor

- Identify as Gender Variant/Non-Conforming, Non-binary, Third Gender, Transgender or Two-Spirit
- Be a Hawaii public high school graduate or GED equivalent

King Kekaulike High School Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the KKHS WOW committee in 1998. The committee was formed to promote and recognize the wonderful and outstanding work among staff members and students of Kekaulike High School. (Children of King Kekaulike High School staff members are not eligible.)

Koloa Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994 by members of the Smith-Waterhouse family of Koloa, Kauai, this scholarship honors the memory of Dr. James W. and Melicent Knapp Smith, who arrived in Koloa in 1842, and their descendants Dr. Jared Knapp Smith, Dr. Alfred Herbert and Mabel Palmer Waterhouse. Each of these doctors and their wives were active in founding and furthering public education in the Koloa area.

- Be in good academic standing or by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

Korean University Club Scholarship Fund
Founded in 1936, the Korean University Club of Hawaii has been providing academic scholarships to students of Korean ancestry since 1950. The Korean University Club of Hawaii is a multi-generational group of Americans of Korean ancestry continuing the intent of its founders in promoting understanding of ancestral heritage and culture, participating in community affairs, and providing educational opportunity.

Korean War Veteran's Children's Scholarship
This scholarship was created in 2012 by Mr. Chong Kim, who was a child in Korea during the Korean War and is thankful to have survived those difficult times. Mr. Kim migrated to America in 1972 and served in the U.S. Air Force and federal government for many years until he retired. He created this scholarship as a way to honor the men and women who serve our country by providing educational opportunities for their descendants.
Donor Criteria:- Must be a direct descendant of a Korean War veteran or a direct descendant of a soldier who served in a foreign war and provide appropriate documentation.

Lima Kokua's Mission Statement: The specific purpose of Lima Kokua Inc. is to improve the lives of those less fortunate in the Hawaii community; with decided effort in those cases where the cause is either underfunded or

Margaret Jones Memorial Nursing Fund
The Margaret Jones Memorial Nursing Fund had its start in 1917, through a concert sponsored by the Hawai'i Nurses Club (now called the Hawai'i Nurses Association). The proceeds of the concert were used to establish a fund for nurses in need. The fund was named for Margaret Jones, a nurse killed when the S.S. Lusitania was sunk by a German submarine during World War I and now benefits nursing students.

The PRSA Hawai'i/Roy Leffingwell Scholarship was established in honor of the late Roy L. Leffingwell, APR, who retired in 1989 after more than 43 years of public relations service in Hawai'i. He founded International Public Relations, Hawaii's first full-service counseling firm and was active in public relations organizations including the National Association of Public Relations Counsel, one of the two organizations that merged to form PRSA. He was a former chapter president and 1993 Professional of the Year.

This scholarship was established by Sara A. Miura, a fifth-generation Kauai resident, when she was 30 years old. This scholarship gives preference to students of divorced parents. Sara herself, is a child of divorced parents. While divorce or any negative experience is not a reason or excuse to aspire to less than their potential, Sara established this scholarship to shine a spotlight on this social and family issue that, in her opinion, should be taken more seriously, especially considering its effects on children. In this little way, she hopes to mitigate divorce and positively impact the lives of all families.

Senator Richard M. & Dr. Ruth Matsuura Scholarship Fund
Dr. Ruth Matsuura created this scholarship for high school graduates, who through higher education are able to pursue careers that positively affect the lives of many. Senator Matsuura worked in the field of agriculture, traveling to India as a missionary to teach people modern agricultural methods to grow crops and end famine. Dr. Ruth Matsuura helped many people as a pediatrician. After serving in India as missionaries, they made their home in Hilo where Senator Matsuura was a state legislator for over 16 years and Dr. Matsuura practiced pediatrics for more than thirty years. Education opened doors for them that would have been closed otherwise.

Criteria:

- OR identified by the HCF staff as an eligible STH candidate through the common application;
- OR a student who has been impacted by the Maui Wildfires of 2023.

Takehiko Hasegawa Scholarship Fund
Originally established in 1987 by the widow of the late Takehiko Hasegawa who was an international businessman, to honor her husband and his love of Kauai. The fund moved over to the Foundation in 2008 and grants out to students with high academic achievements, attending a school off island. Two sets of criteria will be used to determine eligibility:

The 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Stanley Izumigawa Scholarship Fund
The 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Stanley Izumigawa Scholarship Fund was created in 2014. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to benefit descendants of the members of The 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans of WWII and to perpetuate its legacy of continuing service by rewarding direct descendants of the veterans who demonstrate these values and beliefs.

The Gerald W. G. Kwock Charitable Foundation fund was established in 2015. This fund is in support of O'ahu high school seniors attending a public or private high school.

- Demonstrate financial need
- Attend any of the University of Hawaii system school, including community colleges.
- Maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA.

This scholarship was established in memory of Vicki Willder, former Kamehameha Schools Food Services employee.

Victoria S. and Bradley L. Geist Foundation
The Trustees of the Victoria S. and Bradley L. Geist Foundation are interested in assisting students that have been in the foster care system. Mr. and Mrs. Geist grew up independently and their successes in life came through their own personal efforts. Because of the Geists' own childhood experiences, you have been selected in recognition of the strides you have taken to succeed and to give you encouragement to continue your efforts.

- Submit a letter from a Department of Human Services case worker verifying your past and/or present placement in foster care within the State of Hawaii. Youth who have been legally adopted or reunited with their birth families before the age of thirteen (13) are not eligible for support under this program. The letter from your case worker should specifically document that:
1) you are or were in the foster care system in Hawaii.
2) you were not adopted or permanently reunited with your birth parents prior to your 13th birthday. A statement from your case worker that you either did or will "age out" of foster care is sufficient for this purpose if it applies to your case. - Be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.

Walt Dulaney and George Kon Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by the Alliance for Drama Education (ADE), a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 by George Kon and Walt Dulaney. ADE’s mission is to reach out to the community and through drama education stimulate, develop and refine youngster’s cognitive and creative skills. The scholarship supports past and current students of Farrington High School who were members of ADE’s flagship program: T Shirt Theater.

Walter H. Kupau Memorial Fund
This scholarship honors the memory of Walter Kupau, former head of the Carpenter's Union. Under Kupau's guidance, Local 745 became the fifth-largest union in the state and took an active role in local community issues, politics and public service.
